Premier League: Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City - Pressure heaps on Solskjaer after home loss to neighbours

Manchester United have fallen once again at home but this time to neighbours Manchester City with Ivorian defender Eric Bailly hitting the back of his own net to give the Citizens the lead.

More pressure hit Red Devils head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a 0-2 defeat to the Citizens right inside the Theatre of Dreams.

Pep Guardiola's side's victory over their hosts may not be as huge as Liverpool's beautiful 5-0 victory here in the Red Devils' last home top flight encounter but the possession between both side was really wide.

Solskjaer's side conceded first when Eric Bailly converted Joao Cancelo's cross into his own net early in the 7th  minute.

Goalkeeper David de Gea made series of beautiful saves to ensure the margin wasn't too wide denying Joao Cancelo, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne.

Bernado Silva made sure to take advantage of bad defending from Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw to make it two for the visitors as he converted another Cancelo cross.

I wanted to give a "massive compliment to the players" because "they are the real artists for the way we played", Guardiola told bbcsport.

The Citizens boss went ahead to confess how "unstoppable" Chelsea currently are.

He said: "Right now Chelsea are unstoppable. We know we cannot drop much points to be close to them but against the big six we performed well."

According to bbcsport:

This may not have been quite as bad for United as the crushing defeat against Liverpool but it was another abject example of just how far away they are from being serious Premier League challengers.

It was painful viewing as City strutted around imperiously, dominating possession and gratefully accepting the ball when United presented it back to them, as they did with grim regularity.

All the time, Solskjaer - as he did against Liverpool - looked powerless to alter affairs on his very occasional appearances in his technical area, during which he was taunted mercilessly by City's fans.
