Blues Manager Thomas Tuchel in his post-match words said, Clarets stole one point by "pure luck".
German forward Kai Havertz placed Chelsea in front in the 33rd minute with a header from Recce James' cross, his second Premier League goal of the season.
Burnley fought back and eventually got their leveller in the 79th minute via Matej Vydra.
Tuchel, after the game, said: "That's why everyone loves the game - a team can steal a point if the other team forgets to score the goals they deserve."
The German boss went ahead to confess how "disappointed" he was with his side's performance.
"We played a fantastic match. Of course I'm disappointed," he said.
"If we played this game 100 times, we'd win 99 times. Today we didn't win it. It's our fault. We should have scored. We created so many chances.
"You have the opponent where you want to have them. You create so many chances. We let them believe it was possible to steal a point by pure luck and that's what happened."
Chelsea remain League toppers while Burnley sit in the red zone.

• Do you think Tuchel's Chelsea would beat Burnley "99 times", if they clashed "100 times"?
• Looks like overconfidence has found its way into Tuchel for saying - "If we played this game 100 times, we'd win 99 times."?!
• Did Burnley "steal" OR earn their one point from Stamford Bridge?
