'Osimhen is similar to Weah, reminds me of Van Basten' - Napoli boss Spalletti

Victor Osimhen, no doubt has been on fire for Napoli since inception of the current season in Italy with his beautiful form in front of goal.

Luciano Spalletti, SSC Napoli boss, has compared the Nigeria international's quality to that of George Weah, a former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker.

Spalletti is of the belief that Nigerian striker Osimhen is as good as Weah, who remains the only African to have clinched the Ballon d'Or in 1995.

Osimhen has scored nine goals in twelve encounters across all competitions for Napoli and his beautiful form has helped the Partenopei stay at the top spot of the Serie A table.

Spalletti told football-italia: “He is similar to Weah, probably not as strong technically, but with the same quality. He also reminds me of Van Basten. Osimhen is young and he can reach those levels."

Due to injury picked up during a training session, Osimhen has missed out on Napoli's last two games, however, he is expected to field when they lock horns with Hellas Verona in a Serie A match on Sunday at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Naples.

A statement from Napoli reads: “Victor [Osimhen], Fabian, and Insigne did the entire training as a group. Kostas Manolas in the field. Malcuit did custom in the gym.”

SSC Napoli are the leaders of Serie A with 31 points same as second-placed AC Milan, both teams have played 11 games.
