Afcon 2021 (Third Place): Burkina Faso 'very disappointed' after losing to Cameroon - The Stallions captain Traore

Captain of The Stallions, Bertrand Traore, has expressed how "disappointed" the team is following their failure to clinch victory against Cameroon in the third place match of the Africa Cup Of Nations (Afcon) at the Ahmadou Ahidja Stadium, Cameroon on Saturday.

Burkina Faso were three goals in front of their hosts Cameroon at the end of the first 45 minutes, however, allowed the advantage slip off their hands as the Indomitable Lions fought back to equalise and force the encounter into penalties.

Cameroon went on to clinch a 5-3 victory on penalties to win bronze at the tournament.

Traore said: “I’m very disappointed after this result. We had the game in our hands.

“We were leading 3-0 before being caught a few seconds from the end of the game.

“Its professional misconduct because we had everything to win the game. This result comes to ruin our course.”

The Stallions Captain further said: “Its hard to explain what happened tonight. We were leading 3-0 and then the Cameroonians came back.

“It’s a rare situation in football. I’m sad."
