According to Manager Patrice Beaumelle, while on international duty, Zaha suffers home sickness and "wants to reflect" whether to keep on representing his country.
The forward helped Ivory Coast reach the quarter-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations (Afcon).
Coach Beaumelle believes fans may have seen the last of Zaha in the Elephants' jersey after he declined his latest call-up.
Beaumelle said: “He asked not to come because he becomes home sick at each meeting. “He wants to reflect on the rest of his international career.”
Zaha may not feature for Ivory Coast when they face Mozambique and Cameroon in the World Cup Qualifying series in mid November and his participation in the event in Qatar is not certain.
