With this outcome, the Citizens have qualified for the last 16 of the tournament.

Wycombe took a shocking lead in the 22nd minute through Brandon Hanlan, however, the lead only lasted for seven minutes and Kevin De Bruyne levelled for Pep Guardiola's side.

Mahrez netted twice in the 43rd and 83rd minutes, with Phil Foden and Ferran Torres also putting the ball past veteran goalkeeper David Stockdale.

19-year old substitute Cole Palmer sealed the win for the hosts with the sixth goal which was his first for the club.

According to BBCSport:

Victory means Guardiola's side are unbeaten in the competition since October 2016 and have reached the last 16 for the fifth successive season.

Man City Manager Pep Guardiola extended some gratitude to "all the Academy""I am just going to say thank you very much to all the Academy. They have many good players, not just one or two. We can count on them absolutely. With their skills and desire, they have got it at this club. I am so proud to be manager of this club."

Wycombe Manager Gareth Ainsworth: says the game was "special" as well as "incredible""The first 22 minutes were special! What a moment for the fans who travelled all this way. A few months ago they were locked in their homes and couldn't see us in the Championship. Those scenes when the goal went in were incredible."
